~1970 Pocock Teardrop Single
Registering a Pocock

I have a pocock teadrop single scull that I purchased in 1998. At the time, I was told that this had been displayed in the Blood River Museum in CT, which apparently had folded. There was an interesting story about the boat's history subsequent to that. I believe it was shipped to England, rescued by a carpenter who refused to cut it in half for a photo shoot, shipped back to the American Midwest, and then eventually purchased by me and shipped to Massachusetts. I was told that it was built around 1970, but I cannot really know that.

It is a teardrop model, very likely midweight. It is in pretty good condition. I rowed it for a couple years when I lived on the Elk River in Maryland, but it has been in storage in a long shed here in Vermont since, with a couple forays onto the Connecticut River a few years ago.

Best,
